This last weekend my parents flew down to spend a few days with Jesse and I in Santa Barbara. They flew in on Friday morning and as soon as Jesse finished his tests we drove to the airport to get them. From there, we drove straight to Santa Barbara for the weekend.
We stayed at a little bed and breakfast a block over from the beach. We were able to get up both mornings and go for a nice walk along the beach – the sunrise the second morning was gorgeous! (Pictured above)
We spent Friday afternoon in the downtown area of Santa Barbara and along the pier. Then on Saturday we drove up to Solvang and spent the majority of the day there. Solvang is a small Danish town that was very cute and quaint. It’s very similar to Leavenworth which is a Bavarian town in the mountains of Central Washington.
We ate at a delicious little lunch spot called Panino – delicious sandwiches and salads, which reminds me, I should write down what my sandwich was so I can try and re-create it. It ended up being almost 90* that day which was way warmer than we had expected, but it was very nice!
On Saturday night we went to a delicious steak house for dinner and since it was Halloween everyone was dressed up; we couldn’t tell our waiters apart from other dinner guests. It was fun to see all the costumes and see all the shops decorated and passing out candy.
Sunday morning after another morning walk, we got in the car and stopped at Butterfly Beach to get a little waves/beach time in and then drove the PCH along the coast stopping at a few little towns along the way.
It was such a relaxing weekend after several stressful weeks for us, and it was so good to spend a little time with my parents. It’s no fun when the only times you get to see family are when someone buys a flight and the trip only lasts a few days. So it’s very nice to soak in the time when we can!
Thanks for the fun weekend Mom & Dad! :)
