I have loved reading for as far back as I can remember. I have always had a book on my nightstand waiting to be read. I was always good reading but once I started reading chapter books that’s when I really started to love reading. My first favorites were The Boxcar Children books – I’m pretty sure I read all of them, and I still have every single book in a box in my parents attic! But I truly fell in love with reading when I was introduced to NANCY DREW. I have no idea how old I was – maybe my mom remembers?? – but my mom came home from a yard sale one Saturday morning and handed me a copy of a Nancy Drew book. I was instantly hooked.. and I read as many of her books as I could in the following years. My goal was to read every single one and own a copy of every book but it became an expensive hobby. I have about half of them though, in a box… in my parents attic.
My love of reading continued into college so it only made sense that I graduated with a Bachelors in English! For as many books as I’ve read through school and life, I’m always eager to read more!
I’ve collected a few books lately and I’m super excited to dive in. I started reading a new genre of book, and I honestly don’t even know the genre, but it would probably be “Culinary Memoirs”. For Easter Jesse got me a book called Bread & Wine by Shauna Niequist which began this love. So if you need a fabulous read, I highly recommend this book – she’s a Christian author from Chicago who writes about how life is centered around the table. Plus, she has some really fun recipes included!
So a few of the other books are similar styles, but I’ve got a wide variety.
- “Z” Zelda Fitzgerald – Therese Anne Fowler
- The Jane Austen Book Club – Therese Anne Fowler
- Delicious – Ruth Reichl
- Looking for me – Beth Hoffman
- One Thousand Gifts – Voskamp
- Spoken From the Heart – Laura Bush
- A Homemade Life – Molly Wizenberg
- The Paris Wife – Paula McLain
I’m pretty sure this list will continue to grow because I’m always on the look out for cheap books!
Happy Summer Reading :)
