The weather has been beautiful down here in Loma Linda in recent weeks and it doesn’t look like it will be leaving us anytime soon. I’m enjoying it now while it’s still semi-mild, upper 70’s and low 80’s, before it gets unbearable all summer long! It seems the warmer the weather gets the busier our schedules are and there are no signs of slowing down ahead. But tonight I was reminded that every once in awhile it’s very refreshing to just slow down and take a breath of fresh air. Tonight I talked on the phone with one of my best friends for an hour and a half and it was exactly what I needed after a crazy Monday.
I’ve gotten a little behind on the whole blogging scene but here are a few pictures to sum up our last few weeks:
SuperBowl was obviously a couple weekends ago and was a sad loss for us Seahawks fans! BUT it was our first official “party” that we hosted and was so much fun to have friends over. Don’t worry, I’m sure we’ll be throwing another Seahawks Super Bowl party again in the near future!! Also, I had a sinus cold over that weekend which is why I look a little pale/sick.
Now I don’t have any pictures of skunks (well actually I do, but I’m not going to post those – ick!) but we’ve been battling these creatures the last few weeks. We noticed some scratching under our bathtub, as in I yelled for Jesse because I swore there was a large animal in our bathtub, and it kept happening during the night and was getting louder each night. We couldn’t figure out if it was a skunk or possum but after smelling skunk in our bathroom one early early morning we knew something had to be done. We’ve been able to trap two skunks so far, and we know of at least one more still under the house. Our bad avocado tree lured them this way in the first place and then our nice dark cellar is what kept them here. Thankfully there’s never been any serious emergency but I am so happy to be done with these stinky loud creatures!!
My parents flew down for the weekend and we packed it full and kept busy. We spent half of our day at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles which was on our bucket list of things to do while living in SoCal, and it was definitely worth the drive. We also did a lot of driving and touring of local towns.
Then we spent our second day out in the yard getting my vegetable garden and flower garden set up and went on a long walk around the campus! The weather was a warm 80 degree day which made it perfect for getting outside. Before heading to Palm Springs and taking my parents to the airport, we drove around Redlands and ate WAY too much ice cream from a fun little liquid nitrogen ice cream shop. We enjoyed flavors like Chocolate Lavender, Salted Caramel and Espresso.
It was a quick weekend but a fun one and I’m so glad my parents were able to come down and see more of the area that we live in now that we’ve gotten settled in.
Jesse’s parents coming in at the end of this week, so we have a full weekend ahead to look forward too.
**Some really delicious desserts are making an appearance in the coming weeks so be sure to watch for them**
