I first saw this cookbook in the Nampa Costco in early 2014, I didn’t buy it then but I copied down the name and put it on my Amazon wishlist. I hadn’t ever heard of these girls before but I began following their blog and am now an avid follower. These Six Sisters are Mormons from Utah and are all spread out in ages, so when they began moving away they started this blog together to keep them close. Their blog is full of amazing recipes and fun crafts.
I asked for this book fro Christmas and got it from my in-laws. I was so excited and I’ve already marked about ten recipes that I’d like to try soon! I actually just made their Korean Beef recipe for lunch right before I made these cookies.
I came across this recipe and because it included Nutella I decided to make them right away! This cookie is basically a simple peanut butter cookie that has nutella swirled in. To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of peanut butter cookies, they’re less chewy and more dry than what I like. I ended up spreading a thin layer of Nutella on the top of these cookies to finish them off, which went great with a glass of milk!
Here’s what you need:
Butter, peanut butter, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, an egg, flour, baking soda, salt and of course, Nutella.
Start by creaming together the butter, peanut butter, sugar and brown sugar.
Then mix in the vanilla and egg.
Combine the flour, soda and salt then slowly mix into the butter mixture – but don’t do what I did, which was dump all of it into the butter mixture at the same time.
Mix it until just combined, beating it more will only make the dough tough.
Heat up the nutella in the microwave then drizzle over the mixture and fold together. My nutella didn’t so much drizzle out of my Pyrex dish as it did drop out. Either way, fold it into the dough and it looks marbled.
Chill the dough for about 15 minutes then form small 2 teaspoon balls and lightly smash with a fork.
Bake in a 350* oven for about 10 minutes. I smashed the cookies to make them more flat when they had about two minutes left to bake – the cookies were staying pretty fluffy while in the oven and I usually like a flatter and thinner cookie so I just tap the dough flat with a spatula when they’re just a minute or two from being done.
I made one dozen cookies and then I froze the rest of the dough for another day! These cookies turned out pretty well. When I make the rest of the batch I’ll probably bake them about 1-2 minutes less than I did this time and also beat them a little less because they turned out just a hair on the dry side.
To make them even better, smear a little Nutella on the top just before serving! Definitely enjoy with a glass of milk. :)
