Monster cookies are my all-time favorite cookie ever – I mean, they’re basically healthy with all the oatmeal in them, right?? I’ve made them a countless number of times in my life and I’m pretty sure they were one of the very first things I ever learned to make all on my own. This is the recipe that my mom has had for many years, and is the recipe that I’ve always used.
Here’s what you need for the cookies:
Eggs, butter, brown sugar, sugar, vanilla, baking soda, peanut butter, oatmeal, chocolate chips, M&M’s, and nuts.
The best part of monster cookies is that you can just mix all the ingredients together without really worrying what order they go. I’ve always just started with the first ingredient and mixed down the list. So mix eggs, brown sugar, sugar, baking soda and vanilla until well combined.
Then add in butter and peanut butter and mix until super fluffy and smooth. Throw in the oatmeal, mix, then throw in all the chocolate/nuts and mix with a spatula until well combined. I ended up using chocolate chips, M&M’s and toffee bits.
This is what the dough looks like…
…it’s quite literally one of my favorite things.
Here’s where everyone does something different… the size of the cookie. Since these are “MONSTER” cookies most people like to make them rather large. I usually make them somewhere in between because no one likes to only be able to eat half of the cookie. These are 2 scoops of dough for each cookie, so approximately 4oz.
I was able to fit 9 cookies on a large cookie sheet.
Bake them for about 10-12 minutes and done. DO NOT OVER BAKE. These taste a million times better when they’re slightly under baked because when they rest a few minutes they’re perfectly soft and moist. I baked mine 12 minutes exactly and then pulled them out and I thought maybe I underbaked them a little too much, but after they cooled they were absolutely perfect.
This was the best batch of monster cookies that I have ever made – I’m not sure if it’s the gas oven or because I whipped the peanut butter extra long, but either way these were the best!
And here you have the best cookies ever. Print off the recipe and treasure it forever – ha – or at least make them when you need a new cookie idea. Enjoy!
