Life these days looks a little different than it did a few months ago. I’m 3-1/2 weeks into this crazy thing they called motherhood and I am loving almost every minute of it! I only jokingly say “almost every minute” but it’s mostly due to the lack of sleep, although I am starting to adjust to the lack of sleep. Every day is a different story, which does keep things interesting and Grayson definitely keeps me on my toes.
Grayson David Keeler was born on April 3, 2017, and was the cutest little bundle of joy ever – talk about a perfect little baby! We got to bring him home two days later since Mom (that would be me!!) was doing well after her c-section surgery. And life has become a happy blur since that day.
A few things I’ve learned so far about Motherhood:
It’s true what they say, a newborn baby eats, poops, sleeps & repeats… thankfully they’re pretty darn cute while they do these things! The unfortunate part is that the baby has no schedule which means mom has no schedule… he may eat every 3-4 hours during the day but by the time night comes he’s eating every two hours. That’s the hardest part, but at least when Grayson sleeps, he sleeps hard.
The laundry never ceases. If there aren’t clothes to wash, there are definitely changing table covers or crib sheets or swaddles or burp rags. I didn’t want to over buy newborn clothes since we didn’t really know how big Grayson would be and how long he’d be wearing that small of clothing. But even when you think you have enough clothes for the baby, you need more, especially sleepers! One night we ran out of sleepers because he kept going through them, so I bought more. You can never have enough sleepers!
You can also never have enough burp rags. I think I go through about 20 burp rags a day sometimes. Okay so maybe that’s an exaggeration, but when you think you have enough burp rags, buy more. I mostly use them for Grayson for spit up and such, but well let’s be honest, I benefit from them just as much for soaking up extra breast milk during the nights.
I’m definitely soaking in every moment I get with my little man, it’s already gone so quickly and everyday seems to bring a new change or new development in Grayson.
