We finally completed the nursery this weekend – yahooo!!! It’s been really close to complete for a few weeks now but we just needed to organize and clean up a couple more things and now it’s all done! I finished washing all the linens, blankets and clothes this weekend so everything is all set for Grayson’s arrival.
The finishing touch was shampooing the carpet to make it nice and clean in the room, and since it was in the upper 80’s this weekend the carpet was able to dry quickly.
When we first found out we were pregnant we thought there’s no way we’re actually going to be able to turn this tiny room into a nursery. We had it full of storage and it was an office space for Jesse to study. But now looking at the room, I love it! I realize it’s not a perfect nursery, we still have half of the shelving being used for our storage, and the room is super tiny, but it definitely came together.
One thing I have always looked forward to having in a nursery was a rocking chair and I thought I for sure would not make it happen while living in this house because of space, but we made it work and I love it! I have my little galvanized bucket next to the glider to hold all of my nursing items that I will need – and eventually it will hold a few snacks! :) (I realize the AC unit is not very attractive on the wall, but I’m going to be very thankful we have that in there in the coming months!)
We bought this crib used for a really great deal from a local LLU family and painted it – I don’t know why I thought I would want to paint a crib with all it’s little crevices, but I love how it turned out. And I like knowing that we were able to be frugal and still have a great crib for our little one.
The quilt hanging over the bed was made by my mom, and the crib skirt was made by my mother in law! And yes, that is a tiny little bear rug in front of the crib!
We also bought our changing table used from another LLU family and painted this one as well! It took us a few tries to get the right paint, but we love the light gray color. I was able to find some matching bins from HomeGoods to hold diapers and wipes and I love the way it all turned out.
The room we’re using for our nursery is very small but we were able to fit everything we need in the room and still have moving space. The brown dresser is old and could use a paint job but I was not about to tackle that! I’ve had that dresser for a long time and even though it sticks out like a sore thumb, it holds everything we need for Grayson.
We found this bear sign on clearance at Hobby Lobby and it’s perfect for the room!
Like I mentioned earlier, we still have to store a few things in the nursery that aren’t nursery related. We’ve had this shelving unit for awhile so I was able to clear out one side and make it all baby storage and keep the other side storage for us. It’s not the most attractive thing but it works and it holds some of our things that we use frequently enough.
It feels so good to finally have the nursery completely finished and we can’t wait to get this little guy into his room.
