My favorite drink to order from Starbucks during the spring and summer is a Passion Tea Lemonade – it’s fruity and lemony and delicious. It’s one of the cheaper drink options on the Starbucks menu but it still costs a pretty penny every time I order it. Last summer I ran across a box of iced passion tea in my local grocery store and wondered if I too could make a Passion Tea Lemonade.
And I definitely could! I’m all about trying to copy my favorite drink recipes at home because they’re usually pretty easy to make and are SO much cheaper than buying them. And I’m all about saving money these days!
Start by boiling 32oz (4 cups) of water and then pour it over one of the passion tea bags in a large pitcher. Let it steep for 5 minutes.
After the 5 minutes is up remove the tea bag and discard. If you want to make regular passion tea, add 32oz of cold water to the pitcher. If you want to make passion tea lemonade, let the hot water cool down to room temperature before adding 32oz of lemonade.
I like drinking Crystal Light Lemonade and since that’s what I have around my house that is usually the lemonade I like to use, plus its less sugar/calories then regular lemonade. But any lemonade you may have on hand will do the job.
Add a Splenda if you need it to be sweeter, I usually like to use half a packet to make mine just right.
Pour the drink over a glass of ice and sip away! Using Crystal Light does take a little bit away from the real flavor of a Passion Tea Lemonade from Starbucks, but the calories go down a lot which makes me feel less guilty about making a pitcher and drinking it up!
