Two things in my kitchen that should probably be downsized…
Cookbooks and spices. I can’t get enough, and yet, I do not have enough space!
I knew I had a large selection of spices/seasonings but it wasn’t until Jesse and my mom both said I wasn’t allowed to buy anymore that I realized I had too many. OOPS. But I do have to say, I picked up this habit from non other than my mother. She just uses up spices quicker than I do.
I love having every spice ever invented around. I like never having to worry that I won’t have what I need when experimenting with a new recipe. And my favorite place to buy spices is from TJ Maxx and HomeGoods because they have the best selection that always changes. This is my spice shelf that I cleaned out and organized before I took the picture. I realized I had a few too many spice mixtures that I’ve never used and others that I didn’t find tasty anymore so I got rid of those. I’ve realized I love to create my own spice mixtures rather than buying them… although there are a few specific spices that I will always buy from the store because they’re unbeatable.
I also have a serious love of cookbooks. I honestly do not think I could ever own too many cookbooks. I don’t remember when this obsession began, but every time I hear about a new book coming out or see a cookbook that looks delicious I add it to my collection. I have all three of The Pioneer Woman’s cookbooks which I refer too all the time, and I have different cookbooks for homemade ice cream, one for candy, a few dedicated to bread making, some for slow cookers, classics like Julia Child and an all-in-one like the Better Homes and Gardens. I also have my own binder full of recipes that I’ve collected from various sources.
And when The Pioneer Woman releases her newest cookbook this fall I know I’ll be first in line to add it to my collection!
Do you have a spice or a cookbook that is your “go to” and would recommend??
